Buccaneers signed DT A’Shawn Robinson, formerly of the Panthers, to a one-year, $10 million contract.
The Panthers released Robinson just yesterday. His new deal with the Buccaneers is fully guaranteed. Robinson, 30, totaled 45 tackles, six TFLs, 31 quarterback pressures and three sacks last year. Robinson will likely fill former Buccaneers DT Logan Hall’s old role. Hall signed with the Texans earlier today after totaling 25 tackles, one TFL, 32 quarterback pressures and two sacks for the Buccaneers last year.
  • FA Defensive Tackle #94
    Panthers released DT A’Shawn Robinson.
Robinson’s release frees up $10.5 million and was regarded as a foregone conclusion most of the offseason with Derrick Brown now healthy and Tershawn Wharton also ahead of Robinson on the DT depth chart, The soon-to-be 31-year-old should be a nice run-stop piece on the defensive line in 2026 for some other team.
  • CAR Defensive Tackle #94
The Athletic’s Joe Person reports the Panthers have given DT A’Shawn Permission to seek a trade.
As Person points out, this was expected. Robinson is considered to be a trade/cut candidate, which would free up $10.5 million for the Panthers. The veteran lineman who will be 31 next season continues to play at a high level. Robinson totaled 65 tackles, three TFLs, and 2.5 sacks last season, and had 80 tackles, eight TFLs, and 5.5 sacks in 2024. With just one year left on his current deal, Robinson could likely be acquired for a late Day 3 pick, but given the possibility of a release, teams may just wait until he hits the open market before attempting to acquire him.
  • CAR Defensive End #94
Panthers DE A’Shawn Robinson (knee) did not practice Wednesday.
Robinson and DT Shy Tuttle (foot) were both unable to practice Wednesday. The thin defensive line unit cannot afford to lose more players. Robinson played through the injury last week but Tuttle was unable to go. Bengals RBs Zack Moss and Chase Brown would have ample room to run if both Panthers players fail to suit up in Week 4.
  • CAR Defensive End #94
Panthers DT A’Shawn Robinson (knee) is questionable for Week 3 against the Raiders.
Fellow defensive lineman Shy Tuttle is listed as doubtful because of a foot injury. Robinson was added to the injury report as a limited participant on Thursday and remained limited on Friday, giving him a shot at suiting up on Sunday. Having already lost Derrick Brown for the year, the Panthers do not need any more injuries in their front seven.
  • CAR Defensive End #94
Panthers DT A’Shawn Robinson (knee) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.
Robinson has played in both games this season, but missed the first practice of Week 3 with a knee injury. The 29-year-old signed with the Panthers in the offseason and is one of the defensive line’s better players since Derrick Brown got hurt. DT Shy Tuttle (foot) also missed practice. If both can practice later in the week, it will be good news for their Week 3 statuses and the Panthers’ defensive line.
  • NYG Defensive Tackle #91
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports the Panthers have agreed to terms with DT A’Shawn Robinson, formerly of the Giants, on a three-year deal.
Robinson gets a long-term deal in Carolina after one season in New York where he recorded 62 tackles. This move helps the Panthers in a big way as they are looking to improve everywhere on their roster.
  • NYG Defensive Lineman #97
Giants DT Dexter Lawrence (hamstring) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.
Lawrence has been dealing with a hamstring injury the back half of the season, but has played through it the last few weeks. DT A’Shawn Robinson (back) and CB Deonte Banks (shoulder) were other key defenders that did not practice for the Giants. It is still early in the week, but the Giants have a few key defenders dealing with injuries in Week 17.
  • TB Defensive Tackle
Giants signed DT A’Shawn Robinson, formerly of the Rams, to a one-year, $8 million contract.
The Rams continue their personnel dump on both sides of the ball as they enter an apparent rebuilding period in Los Angeles while the Giants continue to bolster their defense through free agency. Giants general manager Joe Schoen has had a busy free agent window, signing multiple players on both sides of the ball as we inch closer to the NFL Draft on Thursday. Robinson should step into a rotational role in defensive coordinator Wink Martindale’s aggressive 4-3 hybrid defensive scheme. The interior defensive lineman is likely to bolster New York’s run defense in 2023.

  • TB Defensive Tackle
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports free agent DL A’Shawn Robinson is scheduled to visit the Giants next week.
One of the top free agents remaining, Robinson has had a quiet market coming off a torn meniscus. Robinson was limited to 10 games last year before landing on IR but should be healthy for the start of the offseason. He would be part of a crowded defensive line with Leonard Williams and Dexter Lawrence if he signs with the Giants.
