Colts elevated K Blake Grupe from the practice squad.
Grupe will be the kicker for the Colts in Week 14 against the Jaguars. The 27-year-old gets first crack at being the kicker for Indianapolis after the team released Michael Badgley following his missed extra point against the Texans in Week 13.
  • IND Kicker #19
Colts signed K Blake Grupe to their practice squad.
He’ll likely be elevated a few times as roster manipulation while the Colts figure out if he’s the answer. Grupe struggled this year for the Saints, hitting just 18-of-26 field goals, including two inside of 40 yards. He’ll be a worthwhile fantasy play if the Colts can get their offense back on track against the Jaguars in Week 14.
  • FA Kicker #12
    Colts waived K Michael Badgley.
The Money Badger missed a huge extra point against the Texans in Week 13 and had missed three of his 21 extra points in total. It’ll be a different kicker for the Colts after today’s tryouts resolve, and whoever they pick will find themselves in a favorable Week 14 situation against the Jaguars. Blake Grupe was one name publicly identified from the tryouts earlier today.
  • FA Kicker #19
Colts are trying out K Blake Grupe, formerly of the Saints.
Michael Badgley missed a critical extra point in the Colts’ Week 13 loss to the Texans and head coach Shane Steichen was noncommittal on Badgley keeping the starting job for Week 14. Grupe, who was released by the Saints last week, had missed eight of his 26 field goal tries this season. An 85 percent field goal kicker during his NFL career, Grupe would have some fantasy upside in the Colts offense if he lands the starting job.
  • FA Kicker #19
    Saints released K Blake Grupe.
Grupe, the team’s kicker since 2023, missed two field goals in Week 12 against the Falcons. It was part of a larger trend, as Grupe has now missed eight of his 26 field goal tries after making 85 percent of his attempts during his first two years with the Saints. Former Browns and 49ers kicker Cade York is likely to kick for the Saints in Week 13 against the Dolphins.
  • NO Kicker #19
Blake Grupe converted 1-of-3 field goal attempts in the Saints’ Week 12 loss to the Falcons.
Grupe had a rough day for the Saints, missing two field goal attempts on the day. His misses were from 38 and 47 yards, both coming in the first half. Many Saints drives stalled in Falcons territory and Grupe’s misses put the offense in “go-for-it” territory more often than not in the second half. With the Saints’ struggles to consistently score, Grupe does not need to be rostered in fantasy leagues.
  • FA Kicker #2
Saints worked out a group of kickers on Tuesday including Mason Crosby and James McCourt.
Crosby was ousted from Green Bay this year after 16 seasons following the drafting of Andres Carlson. The 39-year-old connected on 86.2 percent of his field goals last season and has nailed 81.4 percent during his long career. McCourt is a 26-year-old who has been on the Jaguars and Raiders’ practice squads over the last two seasons but as not attempted a field goal in NFL action. Current Saints kicker Blake Grupe popped up on the injury report with a groin issue, but has not yet been ruled out for this weekend, so today’s workout is likely just due diligence. For now.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune’s Luke Johnson reports Blake Grupe won the kicker competition over Wil Lutz.
Lutz was traded to the Broncos on Tuesday after losing the starting kicker battle to Grupe, who made 14 of his 19 field goal tries in his final collegiate season at Notre Dame. Grupe had made 20 of 25 attempts at Arkansas State in 2021. Attached to a decent Saints offense that faces the league’s softest schedule, Grupe should see the kind of positive game script that generates consistent field goal opportunities.
  • DEN Kicker #3
Saints traded K Wil Lutz to the Broncos.
Head coach Sean Payton acquires his former kicker in New Orleans after Brett Maher seemingly had the starting job locked up. Maher will likely be released and Lutz — who missed much of the 2021 season with a groin injury — will kick for Denver this season. He makes for a decent fantasy option in Denver, and Blake Grupe — the only other kicker on the New Orleans roster — becomes an interesting sleeper option in fantasy leagues.
