Broncos signed seventh-round C Blake Schlueter to a multi-year contract.
An All-Mountain West Conference pick in each of his three seasons as a starter at TCU, Schlueter is a typical small but quick Broncos offensive lineman. He could be groomed as Casey Wiegmann’s eventual replacement, although that’s probably a pipe dream for Denver. Schlueter has a long ways to go.
  • DEN Tight End
    Broncos cut TE Jeb Putzier.
Putzier is a name from back in an earlier stint with the Broncos in 2005. He’s unlikely to garner much interest around the league. The Broncos also cut seventh-round rookie C Blake Schlueter, WR C.J. Jones and P Britton Colquitt.
  • FA Running Back
Falcons signed RB Antone Smith, DE Maurice Lucas, C Blake Schlueter, and OG Jose Valdez to reserve/future contracts.
Smith, who had 15 touchdowns and averaged 4.5 YPC as a senior at Florida State, is probably the most interesting prospect here. He remains a long shot to play in an NFL game at 5'9/190, however, and went undrafted last April.
  • Falcons waived C Blake Schlueter.
The 2009 seventh-rounder remains a developmental project and could land on the practice squad.
