Browns claimed LB Bo Ruud off waivers from the Patriots.

Even with the Browns, Eric Mangini is still cherry-picking Pats castoffs. Ruud has experience practicing on the inside in the 3-4, which Rob Ryan will run in Cleveland. He’ll compete for a backup job behind starters D’Qwell Jackson and Eric Barton.

    Patriots waived LB Bo Ruud.

Barrett’s far less talented little brother would’ve competed for a job on the inside, but the Pats have numbers there after drafting Tyrone McKenzie in the third round. McKenzie could take Tedy Bruschi’s starting job.

    Browns waived LB Bo Ruud.

The writing was on the wall for Ruud when the Browns listed him at outside ‘backer on their first depth chart. Barrett’s little brother is not a pass rusher.

Scout.com reports that the Patriots have signed sixth-round LB Bo Ruud.

The local rags don’t have the news yet, although most of their writers are on vacation. Ruud comes from good NFL stock, but is no lock to make the team, especially if Junior Seau comes back. Ruud will play inside linebacker in New England’s 3-4 defense.

Patriots WR Wes Welker, CB Ellis Hobbs, and rookie LB Bo Ruud have all been lifted from the PUP list.

We never believed Welker’s injury was serious, but it’s tough to tell with the Patriots. Now at 100 percent, it’s safe to draft him as a top 15-20 wide receiver. Hobbs, recovering from offseason shoulder and groin surgeries, is not at full speed yet.

Patriots placed LB Bo Ruud (ankle) and DL Kenny Smith (arm) on injured reserve. They placed T Oliver Ross (shoulder) on the non-football injury list.

Barrett’s brother is basically getting stashed for a season. Ross looked like he had a chance to help the team since they are thin at tackle.

First-round pick Jerod Mayo worked at weak inside linebacker at the Patriots’ first minicamp practice Friday.

He was paired with sixth-round pick Bo Ruud at the mostly rookie workout. Tedy Bruschi is the incumbent at the weak side spot. Mayo can play also play the strong side, but if he starts at WILB he’ll be more enticing as an IDP.
