Texans SS Glenn Earl is expected to miss at least four regular-season games after injuring his foot Saturday night. He likely will need surgery.
The Houston Chronicle compares the injury to the one DeMarcus Faggins suffered last year; Faggins missed the first half of the season. The Texans were already going to be poor against the pass. Either Brandon Harrison or Von Hutchins will pick up snaps at safety while Earl’s foot heals.
  • CHI Defensive Back
Texans SS Glenn Earl suffered a Lisfranc injury Saturday night. He will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
Earl isn’t a great player by any means, but his loss hurts a young Houston secondary. The team will likely move C.C. Brown to his spot and allow Jason Simmons, Von Hutchins, and Brandon Harrison to battle in center field. Earl will enter a contract year in 2008 coming off a career-threatening injury.
  • MIN Defensive Back
Seahawks traded S Michael Boulware to the Texans for DE Jason Babin.
Boulware should immediately help a bruised-up Texans’ secondary. Babin will add depth to the Seahawks’ rotation at DE.
  • IND Defensive Back
Texans rookie DB Brandon Harrison severely pulled his hamstring in practice today.
He could be placed on IR. The Texans had already lost Glenn Earl, and C.C. Brown and Jason Simmons both have bruised shoulder.
  • IND Defensive Back
Texans placed S Brandon Harrison on injured reserve with a severe hamstring pull, ending his season.
The team acquired Michael Boulware on Saturday to bolster depth at worst. Harrison, a rookie from Stanford, had not been challenging to start.
  • IND Defensive Back
Texans signed fifth-round DB Brandon Harrison to a four-year contract.
Harrison and Mike Okwo were the heart of Stanford’s defense the past few years. With experience at corner and safety, he adds versatility to the Texans’ secondary but probably isn’t the answer for their problems in center field.
  • IND Defensive Back
    Texans waived S Brandon Harrison.
Houston had a slight roster crunch at the free safety position.
  • IND Defensive Back
Updating a previous item, the Texans released S Brandon Mitchell on Thursday, not S Brandon Harrison.
The Houston Chronicle got this mixed up. Mitchell was a former undrafted free agent from Ohio State. Harrison was a fifth-round pick last year.
  • IND Defensive Back
Texans S Brandon Harrison sprained his shoulder against the Titans in Week 3.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Harrison could miss significant action with the injury.
  • HOU Defensive Back
The Texans started Nick Ferguson at free safety and Brandon Harrison at strong safety in Week 8.
Surprise 2007 Pro Bowler Will Demps took a seat on the bench. Houston won the game and may continue to use Ferguson and Harrison as starters. Ferguson had seven tackles (five solo) Sunday and Harrison chipped in one.
