Chiefs rookie QB Brodie Croyle will be Kansas City’s No. 3 quarterback this season.
Damon Huard appears to have the backup job to Trent Green on lockdown. Be afraid, Chiefs fans. Be very afraid.

Chiefs QB Brodie Croyle has missed the majority of training camp with a shoulder injury.
Kansas City was forced to sign retread veteran Jeff Smoker as insurance for Saturday’s preseason opener. Croyle is out indefinitely.

Chiefs QB Brodie Croyle (shoulder) resumed practicing Saturday.
The third-round pick missed the majority of training camp. He’s expected to play in Kansas City’s next exhibition game.

Chiefs third-round QB Brodie Croyle made his preseason debut Saturday night in the team’s 16-12 victory over St. Louis.
The rookie was awful, completing just 1-of-9 passes. Croyle entered the game as Kansas City’s No. 2 quarterback but even Damon Huard appears to be a better option right now.

The Dolphins worked out free agent QB Brodie Croyle.
The Dolphins also worked out free agent G Reggie Wells and free agent TE Jeff Dugan. Miami currently only has Matt Moore behind Chad Henne at quarterback, so a contract could be coming Croyle’s way if he looked impressive at all during his workout. A third-round pick of the Chiefs in 2006, Croyle is 181-of-319 for 1,669 yards, eight touchdowns and nine interceptions over parts of 18 games in his career. He was one of the Cardinals’ final cuts earlier this month.

Profootballtalk.com’s Mike Florio reported on Football Night in America that the Texans will likely sign free agent Brodie Croyle this week to be their No. 3 quarterback for the stretch run.
Florio also reported that the Texans will likely roll with rookie T.J. Yates in the starting role for the rest of the season. Croyle would add a veteran presence on the roster, and perhaps push Kellen Clemens to hold the clipboard for Yates. Florio reiterated that Brett Favre almost certainly isn’t coming out of retirement. He hasn’t thrown a football since November 4.

Former Chiefs and Cardinals QB Brodie Croyle has retired from football.
A strong-armed former third-round pick out of Alabama, Croyle lasted just five seasons in the league due largely to poor accuracy and decision making. He was also chronically injury prone and never showed the ability to consistently move an offense. At age 29, Croyle’s career ends with a 0-10 record and 8:9 TD-to-INT ratio. Croyle is now pursuing his real estate license.

The Colts will work out free agent quarterbacks Brodie Croyle and Dan Orlovsky on Tuesday.
These two street free agents are getting a look because of Kerry Collins’ likely concussion. They would not be threats to replace Curtis Painter as the likely starter going forward. Orlovsky may have a leg up, as he spent training camp with the Colts this season before being released at final cuts.

Trent Green “apparently” took the initial snap with the first team at the Chiefs’ OTA workout Tuesday, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
He still split reps equally with Brodie Croyle and Damon Huard, and wants out of Kansas City. The guess still is that Green will be a Dolphin in 2007.

Brodie Croyle completed 6-of-11 passes for 82 yards and threw an interception, and a touchdown, in Thursday night’s exhibition.
On his touchdown throw, Croyle’s pass was low to Chris Hannon but the wideout did the rest of the work after the catch and scored from 21 yards out. Croyle then threw a bad INT into the end zone after a Cleo Lemon fumble. The mistake may have cost Croyle a chance at the Week 1 starting job.
