Jets claimed TE Jelani Woods off waivers from the Colts.
Woods is a former third-round pick with size at 6-foot-7 and 253 pounds who has missed the last two seasons with injuries. Even in the best outcomes for Woods, he’s more likely to be taking away from Mason Taylor than carry standalone value himself. The Jets also claimed LB Cam Jones and OT Esa Pole off waivers from the Chiefs.
  • NYJ Linebacker #43
Chiefs signed Indiana LB Cam Jones.
Jones (6’1/226) saw his 2022 season cut short due to a foot injury suffered in Week 5. He pops on tape as a player who is consistently around the ball and attacks the ball carrier with ferocity as a tackler. With good patience and an ability to quickly diagnose cutback lanes, Jones’ football IQ always gives him a chance to win the play, but he can just as easily be taken out of a play with a well-placed block. Jones’ size will work against him at the next level, as he needs to improve his block-shedding to earn any kind of a role on defense. Coaches will love his effort and ability on special teams out of the gate, which could eventually land him a larger role down the line.
