Steelers agreed to terms with P Cameron Johnston, formerly of the Giants, on a one-year contract.
It’s a reunion for Johnston, who played for the Steelers in 2024 before splitting time with the Bills and Giants last season. The Australian punter appeared in just four games last season and averaged 44.5 yards per punt while landing 18.2 percent of his kicks inside his opponent’s 20-yard line. Johnston will likely compete to earn the punting job in training camp.
  • BUF Punter #16
Bills placed P Cameron Johnston (leg) on injured reserve.
The punter will miss at least the next four weeks after replacing Brad Robbins as Buffalo punter in Week 1. Buffalo’s third punter of the season will be Mitch Wishnowsky. You can do what you will with that information.
  • BUF Punter #16
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Bills P Cameron Johnston (leg) is likely to miss time.
Johnston was banged up in the Bills’ Week 4 win over the Saints, but gutted things out for the remainder of the game. Despite the courageous effort, Johnson is now slated to miss some time with what is being classified as a lower-leg injury that could result in a stint on the IR. Johnston is averaging 44.0 yards per punt on seven punts this season, with two landing inside the opponent’s 20-yard line. The Bills will likely try out a handful of guys this week to see who they will have replace him in Week 5.
  • BUF Punter #5
    Bills signed P Cameron Johnston.
They waived Brad Robbins. Not sure why the Bills figured they’d need a punter after what we saw on Sunday night, but if they attempt any in Week 2, Johnston will be taking them.
  • Steelers released P Cameron Johnston.
That’s right, Corliss Waitman has won the starting punting job! Bill Burr look-a-like Johnston will peddle his punting wares elsewhere after a 2024 ACL tear. Johnston punted 14 times this preseason, so he is healthy.
  • PIT Punter #5
Steelers P Cameron Johnston (knee) is out for the season.
Johnston was carted off the field Sunday against the Falcons. An ACL tear was confirmed on Monday and he will miss the remainder of the season. It’s a blow for the Steelers special teams, as Johnston held for K Chris Boswell.

The Athletic’s Mike DeFabo reports the Steelers and P Cameron Johnston have agreed to a contract.
Johnston has spent the last three seasons with the Texans and has averaged 42.2 net yards per punt for his career. Touted by NBC’s Kyle Dvorchak as a crusher of punts, Johnston led the league in punts and punting yards in 2021, and was graded as the 23rd best punter in 2023 per PFF.
  • HOU Punter #11
Texans placed P Cameron Johnston (calf) on injured reserve.
The Texans will need to add a punter ahead of Week 1’s matchup against the Ravens, as Johnston is now required to miss a minimum of four games. Johnston signed a three-year deal with the Texans in 2021, despite ranking near the bottom of the league in net yards per punt. We’d expect the Texans to add another punter in the very near future.
  • Texans signed P Cam Johnston, formerly of the Eagles, to a three-year, $8 million contract.
The Texans continue to pile on special teams players in free agency, for reasons unknown. Johnston is coming off a 2020 season in which he posted a career-low 41.2 net-yard average. Johnston’s deal with Houston includes a $1 million signing bonus and $3 million in guaranteed money. The Texans released punter Bryan Anger on Thursday.

  • The Eagles will not tender restricted free agent P Cam Johnston, making him an unrestricted free agent.
It’s a salary cap maneuver, as 29-year-old Johnson is a perfectly pine punter, placing 14th in net punting average last season. The Eagles will assuredly go bargain basement at the position for 2021. Johnson will be near the head of the line for punter workouts/calls.
