Packers placed EDGE Rashan Gary (knee) on the active/PUP list.
Green Bay also placed Jeff Cotton, Jake Hanson, and Eric Stokes on the PUP list. Grant DuBose and Camren McDonald were placed on the non-football injury list. Gary suffered a torn ACL in Week 9 last year and has been working off to the side during practices so far. It’s possible he’s ready for Week 1, though that remains up in the air. If the Packers don’t remove him from the PUP list before roster cutdowns, they will have to place him on the reserve/PUP list, sidelining him for at least the first four weeks of the season.
  • Tight End #45
FSU senior TE Brendan Sonnone (undisclosed) missed the first few days of camp due to injury.
McDonald (6'4/242) is an important part of the Seminoles offense and brings a career receiving line of 55-549-4 into 2022, with back-to-back seasons of 240+ receiving yards. Yet to enjoy a true breakout season, the fifth-year senior will hope this season is his best yet. He’s proven at times to be a capable threat in the receiving game, having gone for 40 or more yards in six of his last 17 games dating back to 2020. During his time at FSU he has also seen some work at wide receiver, lining up 181 times in the slot last season per PFF.com. HC Mike Norvell didn’t seem too concerned with his absence, so he could return any day.

  • Tight End #45
FSU senior TE Camren McDonald has been named to the Mackey Award watch list.
Heading into his senior season, McDonald (6'4/242) brings a career receiving line of 55-549-4 into 2022, with back-to-back seasons of 240+ receiving yards. • Tight End #45
Florida State junior TE Camren McDonald caught seven passes for 61 yards in Saturday’s 41-17 loss to Pitt.
McDonald (6'4/238), who serves as a hybrid of sorts within the Florida State offense, was the team’s best offensive performer in an otherwise disappointing effort. The junior tight end caught all seven passes that he was targeted on, and he also led the Seminoles in receiving yards. For the season McDonald has caught 22 passes for 248 yards and two touchdowns, numbers he’ll look to improve upon in two weeks when the Seminoles host Clemson.

    Jordan Wilson
    FSU #4
Florida State redshirt senior TE Jordan Wilson has been ruled out for the 2020 season after suffering a lower-leg injury in practice.
Wilson (6'4/250) was expected to add experience to the tight end position after joining the program as a grad transfer from UCLA. The redshirt senior, who was injured during a team scrimmage on Saturday, will likely appeal the NCAA for a sixth season of eligibility. With Wilson going down, junior Camren McDonald remains the presumed starter but he has yet to make a catch at the college level. Converted quarterback Wyatt Rector and freshmen Carter Boatwright and Markeston Douglas will also compete for reps at tight end.

  • Tight End #45
Florida State sophomore TE Camren McDonald was used at both tight end and wide receiver during spring practices.
McDonald (6'4/229) was already in line to see an increase in reps given the inconsistency of starting tight end Tre’ McKitty, but new OC Kendall Briles also split the sophomore out on occasion. According to Tashan Reed of The Athletic, McDonald “impressed during the spring” in that hybrid role and that’s a setup that could continue in the fall. Florida State doesn’t lack for tall wideouts, with Tamorrion Terry, Keith Gavin, Warren Thompson and Tre’Shaun Harrison all standing 6-foot-2 or taller. But McDonald would also bring a little more bulk to the table, giving the Seminoles another look to throw at nickel backs and linebackers that drop into coverage.

Rivals recruiting analyst Adam Gorney notes that Florida State four-star 2018 verbal TE commit Camren McDonald has the ability to be “a special downfield target.”
“You can split him out and be a major match-up problem (for smaller DBs), and he has good speed,” Gorney notes, later adding that McDonald possesses “excellent hands” and “catches everything.” Rivals ranks the 6-foot-4, 210-pounder as the No. 209 overall prospect in the 2018 class. He’s entering a good situation for early playing time, as FSU is losing TE Ryan Izzo to the draft and TE Mavin Saunders to a Kansas transfer.
  • Tight End #45
Florida State received a verbal commitment from 2018 four-star TE Camren McDonald.
McDonald made his choice on Saturday, committing to the Seminoles over Ole Miss, Cal, Texas A&M and many other Power Five schools. 247 Sports ranks him as the 15th best player at the position, and the 40th best player in the loaded state of California. At 6-foot-4, 210-pounds he’ll have to put on weight to stay at the position, but it sounds like he’s an excellent athlete with the frame to become a quality red-zone threat for Florida State in the coming years.
