Lions signed WR Malik Cunningham to a reserve/futures contract.
The former Louisville quarterback made his first career appearance in an NFL game in 2025. He ran the ball against the Cowboys in Week 14 one time and gained one yard. OL Devin Cochran, DE Ahmed Hassanein, TE Zach Horton, WR Jackson Meeks, OL Mason Miller (not the Padres reliever), RB Jabari Small, DL Chris Smith and S Loren Strickland were also all signed to reserve/future deals by the Lions.
  • DET Defensive Lineman #90
Former Harvard junior DL Chris Smith has committed to Minnesota.
Smith (6'2/293) missed the 2020 season due to the cancelation of the Ivy League season thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. He came back in 2021 to receive First Team All-Ivy League recognition after posting 26 tackles, 18 quarterback pressures and three sacks while appearing on 350 defensive snaps according to Pro Football Focus. Smith was one of the highest-graded defensive linemen in 2021, receiving an overall defensive grade of 86.5 on PFF.com, while drawing a 90.1 grade for his run-stopping abilities. Minnesota could have a great player in Smith, who will only add to a defense that allowed just 17.3 points per game.
