Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Joey Porter Jr. is considered day-to-day with an undisclosed injury.
This does not give us much to go on. We’ll take solace in the fact that Porter is considered day-to-day, rather than something worse, but hopefully the team provides clarity as to what it is he’s dealing with. Backup CB Cory Trice sustained a hamstring injury and OL Calvin Anderson suffered a lower-body injury at tonight’s practice.
  • PIT Cornerback #27
Steelers selected Purdue CB Cory Trice with the No. 241 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Although Trice (6’3/206) played safety throughout his high school career, the super-sized defender was steered over to the cornerbacks room after his first year in West Lafayette. He ended up starting as a sophomore, making incremental strides until coming of age last year with 12 PBU, an 87.0 PFF tackling grade, and a dirt-low 51.3 NFL passer rating allowed en route to being named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten. While his 4.46 40 (78th percentile) is merely average in comparison with his 2023 peers, Trice’s scorching 6.7 3-Cone (95th percentile), 4.06 shuttle (91st percentile), and 9.65 RAS show his incredible change of direction ability for a player of his length. His hip fluidity, long probing arms, and traits are all check marks in his favor. Although he is still lacking in technique and has dealt with multiple injuries, Trice’s length and agility are outliers that should earn him consistent snaps at his NFL peak.
