Vikings EDGE Dallas Turner (illness) did not practice Thursday.
A midweek addition to the injury report is never a good sign, but players typically play through illnesses. This is a situation to keep an eye on when the Vikings release their final injury report on Friday, but we fully expect Turner to be active on Sunday morning. The second-year EDGE has one sack and 11 pressures this year.
  • Vikings EDGE Dallas Turner (knee) was removed from the injury report and will play in Week 16 against the Bears.
Turner was added to the injury report on Wednesday with a knee issue. He suffered a knee injury earlier in the year and missed one game. The rookie is good to go for Week 16. He has two sacks plus two TFLs this season.
  • Vikings EDGE Dallas Turner (knee) was limited in Wednesday’s walkthrough.
Turner was a late addition on the Vikings’ Wednesday injury report after having a limited showing the the team’s evening walkthrough. Turner looks to be dealing with a knee issue and his practice status later in the week will show how serious this new issue is and if Turner can play in Week 16.
  • Vikings EDGE Dallas Turner (knee) was removed from the injury report and will play in Week 4 against the Vikings.
Linebacker Ivan Pace was the only player ruled out for Minnesota. Turner missed Week 3 with the knee issue. He returned to the practice field for all three sessions before being cleared from the injury report on Friday. Turner has one sack and one TFL through two games. He will look to get back on the board versus a hobbled Jordan Love or Malik Willis this week.
  • Vikings EDGE Dallas Turner (knee) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.
The rookie defender missed Week 3 because of the knee issue. A limited session to open the following week is a good sign that the injury isn’t a long-term problem. Turner, who has one sack and one TFL through two games, has a good shot at returning in Week 4.
  • Vikings EDGE Dallas Turner (knee) will not play in Week 3 against the Texans.
Linebacker Ivan Pace was also ruled out. Turner tweaked his knee and Week 2 and did not practice this week before being listed as out. It’s a tough blow for a Minnesota defense that has started the year red-hot by shredding the Giants before bottling up a much more formidable San Francisco offense. Turner logged his first TFL in Week 1 and notched his first career sack last week.
  • Vikings signed No. 17 overall pick EDGE Dallas Turner to a four-year, $15.76 million contract.
The initial report comes from ESPN’s Kevin Seifert. ESPN’s Adam Schefter later broke the deal’s financial details, including its fully-guaranteed status. Turner should anchor the Vikings’ pass-rush for years to come after finishing top five in pass-rush win rate (19.6 percent), quarterback pressure rate (19.6 percent) and pass-rush productivity (11.6), ranked among Power Five EDGE rushers with at least 260 qualifying snaps.
  • Vikings traded up with the Jaguars to select Alabama EDGE Dallas Turner with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
A blue-chip five-star recruit who was rated as the top edge defender from the 2021 prep cycle, Turner fulfilled his immense potential last season by accumulating 10.0 sacks with a 15.4% pressure rate (3rd) and 89.3 pass rush grade (8th in P5). The consensus First Team All-American was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year by the coaches and a finalist for Bednarik Award. Turner verified his elite pedigree by running a sensational 4.48 40-yard dash (99.7th%) in addition to vertical jumping 40.5” (99.3rd%) and broad jumping 10’07” (97th%). His 20 bench reps was a middling 43rd% number, but his arms come in at a promising length of 34.375”. The Alabama captain is smart enough to differentiate between run/pass with precise hand placement on the rush. He explodes off the ball while attacking OTs with zero apprehension and expecting to win every engagement. He is a fluid mover with relentless effort who rips and tears at opponents to get free. Turner’s 22 percent missed tackle rate illustrates how there is room to grow in converting the natural havoc he creates. He has the vital traits needed to become a difference-making player and potential Danielle Hunter replacement for the Vikings.
