ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Commanders DE Deatrich Wise suffered a season-ending quad injury in Week 2 against the Packers.
Wise will be placed on injured reserve in the coming days. The veteran defensive end signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Commanders this offseason after spending the first eight years of his career in New England. He started both games for the Commanders and had one TFL and one quarterback hit. Wise will be a free agent in the spring.

Deatrich Wise was carted off the field with a lower-body injury in Thursday’s Week 2 game against the Packers.
Wise was rolled up while attempting to block an extra point in the second quarter. The 31-year-old defender will assuredly miss the rest of this game, and there should be an update on his status for the upcoming contests in the coming days.

Commanders signed DE Deatrich Wise, formerly of the Patriots, to a one-year, $5 million contract.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the deal is worth up to $5 million. Wise is a veteran defensive lineman who has spent all eight years in the NFL with the Patriots. With 34 career sacks mostly as a rotational pass rusher, Wise adds value to a defensive line that just released Jonathan Allen. The 30-year-old will join the rotation for a budding Commanders team in 2025.

Patriots re-signed DL Deatrich Wise to a four-year, $30 million extension.
It includes $10 million guaranteed, and it’s another one of those “up to” $30 million contracts. Desperate to improve their defense, the Pats didn’t want to compound matters by letting soon-to-be 27-year-old Wise walk. He contributed 564 snaps on defense last season, and has 56 career quarterback hits. Wise is entering what should be his prime and has always been versatile for coach Bill Belichick.

Patriots placed DE Deatrich Wise on the active/PUP list.
Wise underwent offseason foot surgery, and he’s not ready for team drills yet. Being placed on the active/PUP list doesn’t mean he’ll miss games in 2019 since he can be activated at any time. Wise should be ready to go before Week 1.

ESPN’s Mike Reiss reports Patriots DE Deatrich Wise (ankle) is in a walking boot.
Wise is not participating in any offseason work and is on the “rehabilitation track.” It is unclear what he is recovering from, but Wise did miss the AFC Championship Game with an ankle issue. Reiss reports the injury is not expected to affect Wise’s availability for Week 1.

Patriots declared DE Deatrich Wise, DL Ufomba Kamalu, DL Keionta Davis, DL Danny Shelton, TE Stephen Anderson, DB Duke Dawson, and OL James Ferentz inactive for the AFC Championship Game.
Wise has been listed with an ankle injury in recent weeks, but he was a full participant this week before being left off the final injury report. Everyone here appears to be a healthy scratch.
  • WAS Defensive End #91
Patriots DE Deatrich Wise (ankle) is inactive for the Divisional Round against the Chargers.
Wise was the only player that was listed as questionable this weeks. Also inactive for the Patriots are DE Keionta Davis, CB Duke Dawson, S Obi Melifonwu, C/G James Ferentz, TE Stephen Anderson, and DE Ufomba Kamalu.

Patriots selected Arkansas DL Deatrich Wise with the No. 131 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
Wise (6’5/274) started only 10-of-50 games in his college career, tallying 23 tackles for loss with 16.5 sacks and four forced fumbles. While not a decorated college player, Wise produced at an above-average level in his opportunities and showed NFL-level athleticism with a 4.93 forty time and explosive 10-foot-5 broad jump. Wise also has vine-like, 35 5/8-inch arms and big hands (10 ½"). Wise’s tools are indicative of a classic five-technique defensive end.

Patriots signed fourth-round DL Deatrich Wise.
Wise (6'5/274) was a productive DL on limited opportunities at Arkansas. At the Combine, he was explosive (10-foot-5 broad jump) and lengthy. The No. 131 overall pick is slated to work as a five-technique defensive end alongside one of the best run stopping defensive lines.
