Steelers signed LB Derrick Doggett to a reserve/future contract.
Doggett was annually an All-Pac Ten selection at Oregon State, but size (6'3/215) shortcomings nixed his stock in the 2008 draft, for which he was passed over. He resurfaced with the CFL in Winnipeg, making 27 special teams tackles in ’09. He’ll try to help Pittsburgh’s reeling coverage units.

Derrick Doggett has re-signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The Steelers signed Doggett to a reserve/future contract after last season, but cut him during the spring. The former Oregon State linebacker was one of the better special teams players in the CFL last year.
  • BUF Defensive Back
Steelers waived CB Trae Williams, LB Derrick Doggett, K Piotr Czech, WR Jason Chery, P Adam Graessle, NT Cordarrow Thompson, and C Bradley Vierling.
The team is clearing up space for rookie signings. Williams was signed off the Seahawks practice squad to add depth late last season. A special teams hopeful, Doggett was no longer needed with three linebackers picked up in the draft.
