Arizona HC Kevin Sumlin said Wednesday that redshirt sophomore STUD Jalen Harris is “really coming on as a pass rusher.”
“He’s really coming on as a pass rusher, and we need him to come on,” Sumlin said at Pac-12 Media Day. “If he continues to develop, we hope and we want him to be that guy, the pass rusher that we need to have to pressure and add pressure and create havoc on the pass rush and disruption.” Harris, who Sumlin said is now up to 249 pounds, moved into the starting lineup for the last four games of 2018 and finished the year with 27 tackles (four for loss), three sacks and a forced fumble. Now the unquestioned starter at the STUD position, the hope is that the redshirt sophomore emerges as a star for the Arizona defense.

The Athletic’s Doug Haller notes that Arizona redshirt sophomore STUD Jalen Harris has “star” potential.
Harris emerged as the starter for the Wildcats over the final four games, and he was a bright spot. As Haller notes, he picked up three sacks and four tackles for loss this season, and Haller believes he can double that production. He battled health issues in his first year on campus, but the 6-foot-4, 242-pound defender is one of the most talented players on the roster. This is a sleeper to keep an eye on, for sure.
