The Colts starter could be pushed by second-year player Marlin Jackson. David is expected to be ready for training camp.

Tough Monday night for the Saints. David, who has the team’s only two takeaways, had surgery on Tuesday. He is expected to be replaced in the starting lineup by Jason Craft, Usama Young or veteran Fred Thomas.

David may not immediately regain his starting job from fill-in Jason Craft, but will likely be asked to help at least in New Orleans’ nickel package.

Parrish beat Jason David along the sidelines on consecutive second-quarter plays. While it’s clear David is struggling to adjust from a zone defense to a man-to-man scheme, Parrish could make a move up the depth chart if he continues to produce. Peerless Price should not be locked into a starting job by any means. The Saints are now 0-2 in the preseason, if anyone cares.

Jason David, who split the nickel with Jason Craft during the week, will likely take over at right corner by Week 1. Thomas should end up as a dime back.

David is getting closer, but not yet set to return to a game. Roddy White, Joe Horn, Laurent Robinson, and Michael Jenkins have to be disappointed.

David was burned for a 73-yard touchdown by Andre Johnson in Week 11, one of several touchdowns he has allowed this year. CB Jason Craft, who was solid while filling when David was out with a broken forearm, could see more time down the stretch.
