    Falcons released DT Jason Jefferson.
Jefferson, 27, was a fairly key part of Atlanta’s rotation last year, even earning a spot start at nose tackle. First-round pick Peria Jerry and the progress of young DTs Thomas Johnson and Trey Lewis made him expendable.

Bills DT John McCargo will move into the starting lineup this season.
The ’06 first-round pick is healthy again and will team up with Marcus Stroud inside, with Spencer Johnson, Jason Jefferson, and Kyle Williams coming off the bench. McCargo had 29 stops, three sacks, and a forced fumble in 2007.

Bills signed restricted free agent DL Jason Jefferson to a one-year, $927,000 contract.
Jefferson isn’t starting material, but can play three of the four defensive line spots. He’ll still only be on the roster if Buffalo keeps five DTs in 2008.

Falcons claimed DT Jason Jefferson off waivers from the Bills and released DT Tim Anderson.
Jefferson gives them more of a pocket pusher than Anderson would have.
  • BUF Tight End
Bills released TE Tim Massaquoi, LB Jon Banks, LB Marcus Buggs, LB Blake Costanzo, OL Dustin Dickinson, OT Patrick Estes, FB Jonathan Evans, OL Robert Felton, DB Dustin Fox, OL Christian Gaddis, RB Bruce Hall, WR Felton Huggins, DT Jason Jefferson, DE Derrick Jones, DT Corey Mace, WR Scott Mayle, OL Nevin McCaskill, and DT Teraz McCray.

Starting NT Grady Jackson was on the Falcons’ game-day inactive list Sunday after his knee swelled up.
“At about 3AM this morning, his knee blew up,” coach Mike Smith said. “It was a game time decision. It was unexpected.” Jason Jefferson started instead.

The Bills extended restricted free agent DT Jason Jefferson a low tender ($927,000).
Jefferson can play the nose and three technique, but is only a reserve. He made a career high 20 tackles in 2007. FS Jim Leonhard and RB Shaud Williams were not tendered. Leonhard could be back at a smaller cost.
