Ravens EDGE Jaylon Ferguson has died at 26 years old.
As a redshirt senior at Louisiana Tech, Ferguson led the nation in sacks (17.5) and finished second in tackles for loss (26). The Ravens selected Ferguson in the third round of the 2019 draft, and in three years he totaled 31 hurries and four sacks, operating from the edge. Details are not yet known regarding Ferguson’s tragic passing. Our thoughts are with his loved ones.

Ravens DE Jaylon Ferguson tested positive for COVID-19.
Ferguson tested positive Friday morning. The team is contact tracing to mitigate the virus’ spread, so more players could be impacted in the next 24 hours. If he’s vaccinated, Ferguson would need two negative tests 24 hours apart to return to the team, as long as he’s asymptomatic. The No. 85 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Ferguson has played 11 snaps through two games this year.

  • Ravens added six more players to the reserve/COVID-19 list, including starting RT D.J. Fluker
The others include OLB Jaylon Ferguson, OL Will Holden, DT Broderick Washington, CB Tavon Young and CB Khalil Dorsey. That means the Ravens have placed 18 names on the list since Monday, November 23. As of now the Ravens are scheduled to play the Steelers on Tuesday, but seemingly every day more names are added to the list, including on the Steelers’ side.

  • BAL Nose Tackle #58
Ravens NT Michael Pierce, OLB Jaylon Ferguson, and DT Daylon Mack passed their physicals.
Pierce showed up to minicamp severely overweight with reports saying he looked “much heavier” than 340 pounds. The nose tackle has apparently got back into shape since, so he’ll be out there for training camp after being removed from last month’s program. Rookies Ferguson and Mack are expected to be depth options in 2019.

Ravens signed third-round DE Jaylon Ferguson to a four-year contract.
With Ferguson under contract, the Ravens have now signed six of their eight draft picks. First-round WR Marquise Brown and third-round WR Miles Boykin are the two remaining holdouts.

Ravens selected Louisiana Tech DE/OLB Jaylon Ferguson with the No. 85 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Ferguson (6’5/271) broke Terrell Suggs’ NCAA sack record (45) and led the nation in sacks in 2018 (17.5) while earning C-USA Defensive Player of the Year. Per PFF College, Ferguson created pressure on 20.8% of his 2018 pass-rush snaps, the fourth-highest rate in this class. Ferguson wasn’t invited to the Combine after simple battery and public intoxication charges in school. His Pro Day metrics were unspectacular, running 4.82/4.83 with a sluggish 8.08 three-cone time. A powerful edge presence with long arms (34 ½") and elite production, Ferguson’s off-field questions and moderate first-step burst after putting on weight are the biggest concerns for his NFL transition. The Ravens are in need of pass rushers after losing Terrell Suggs and Za’Darius Smith in free agency.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Louisiana Tech DE Jaylon Ferguson won’t attend the NFL Combine.
Ferguson had his invitation rescinded after a background check revealed he was convicted of simple battery his freshman year. He also had a minor public intoxication charge in college. Teams were aware of Ferguson’s off-field issues, but not attending the Combine is going to hurt his draft stock. Mississippi State DT Jeffery Simmons and Colorado State WR Preston Williams were denied Combine invites last month.
