Hines recorded three tackles in five games as a special teamer after being claimed off waivers from the Colts in early October.

Hines was drafted by the Rams in the fifth round this season but was waived in late September. The Colts claimed him, waived him and are now bringing him back. He’ll take Stevie Brown’s (injured reserve, quad) spot on the roster and focus on special teams.

Per The Sideline View’s Adam Caplan, the Colts could be clearing a roster spot for former Bucs S Larry Asante. Hines appeared in 10 games between the Colts and Panthers last season, making six tackles.

A fifth-round pick, Hines will see most of his snaps on special teams in Indianapolis if he’s active on Sundays. He failed to get on the field in three games with the Rams.

Hines was just claimed off waivers from the Rams, and has practice squad eligibility remaining. Tepper will back up Jeff Linkenbach at right tackle. A former Cal Bear, Tepper went undrafted two Aprils ago.

Hines spent just one week with the Colts after getting claimed off waivers from the Rams. The fifth-rounder from Ohio State will vie for a special teams role in Carolina.

Profiling as a deep backup and special teamer, the fifth-rounder didn’t see game action in three weeks on the active roster. The cornerback-needy Rams could be signing veteran Rod Hood to take his spot.

Hines was a special teams dynamo his first two years for the Buckeyes, before taking over as OSU’s starting strong safety. He started there as a junior and senior, earning second-team All-Big Ten honors in 2010. Hines goes 6'1/214. Unfortunately, he runs 4.68 and probably lacks the speed to be more than a special teamer/backup in the pros. He’s also not a playmaker.
