  • DET Running Back #28
Oregon State RB Jermar Jefferson ran a 4.55 second 40-yard dash at his pro day workout.
Jefferson’s (6'0/206) 40-yard dash time was a respectable mark that ranked in the 46th percentile, while his 3-cond time of 7.38, vertical jump of 31" and 13 bench press reps were all considered times in the lowest 10 percentile of NFL worth running backs. He burst onto the scene rushing for 1,380 yards and 12 touchdowns as a true freshman in 2018. His numbers dipped in 2019 -- various nagging injuries did not help -- before he rebounded for a final nice season this past fall (858 yards, career-best 6.5 YPC in six games). His pro day results would have to be considered a disappointment and he is likely in the mid-late Day 3 mix for the NFL Draft.

Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline writes that Oregon State RB Jermar Jefferson “displays suspect instincts.”
“Jefferson was a dynamic back with an inconsistent game,” Pauline explains. “He looked like a world beater on occasions, then displayed pedestrian skills in other instances.” While the analyst is quick to praise the 5-foot-10, 217-pound Oregon State back’s explosiveness and ability to exploit a hole once found, concerns about balance and physicality pepper Pauline’s scouting breakdown. To conclude, Pauline writes that Jefferson “must raise all levels of his game” if he’s to stick in the pros for long. If Jefferson is to scoot his way into the draft, it will likely come later on Day 3.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. writes that Oregon State RB Jermar Jefferson has not “been talked about enough over the past year.”
Jefferson (5'10/217) bolted onto the scene rushing for 1,380 yards and 12 touchdowns as a true freshman in 2018. His numbers dipped in 2019 -- various nagging injuries did not help -- before he rebounded for a final nice season this past fall (858 yards, career-best 6.5 YPC in six games). He’s also a very functional receiving back, having logged 43 catches during his time in Corvallis. Keep in mind that he did all this while playing on a rebuilding Oregon State team lacking for dependable offensive line and quarterback play. Jefferson will be in the Day 3 mix come April’s draft.

Oregon State junior RB Jermar Jefferson declared for the NFL Draft.
Just days after Oregon State’s last game against Arizona State, Jefferson has decided he will be headed to the NFL. At 5-foot-10, 214-pounds, Jefferson sports a rock-solid frame and runs with plenty of power to back it up. Jefferson handled 133 carries for 858 yards and seven touchdowns in just six games this year, though he didn’t add much as a pass-catcher. Jefferson could be a nice steal as a rotational RB on Day 3.

  • DET Running Back #28
Oregon State junior RB Jermar Jefferson carried 24 times for 103 yards in a 46-33 loss to Arizona State this Saturday.
Jefferson (5'10/214) puts a bow on an impressive season, as the talented junior ripped off his fifth 100-yard game in six contests. The Beavers’ tailback had injury issues last year, but that didn’t stop him from being a true bell cow for OSU, carrying 133 times for 858 yards, 6.5 yards per carry and seven touchdowns. It remains to be seen if Jefferson will return in 2021, but he would be one of the very best returning runners in the nation should he choose to come back.

Oregon State junior RB Jermar Jefferson carried the ball 18 times for 80 yards in a 27-24 loss on Saturday to Stanford.
Jefferson was held out of the previous game because of COVID protocols, but was back on the field on Saturday for the Beavers. Unfortunately for the 5-foot-10, 214-pound tailback and Oregon State, it comes in a losing effort. It’s also the worst game of the year for Jefferson, although 18-for-80 is nothing to sneeze at, and he looked like a superstar in his previous outings -- much like he did as a freshman. It’s very possible this was his last game as a member of the OSU club, but if he’s back in 2021, he’ll be among the most exciting tailbacks to watch next fall.

  • DET Running Back #28
Oregon State junior RB Jermar Jefferson (illness) practiced and is trending towards playing against Stanford on Saturday.
Getting Jefferson (5'10/214) back for the regular season finale would give the Beavers a welcomed sight, as he is one of the top running backs in the Pac-12. Backup running back B.J. Boston is considered questionable with a shoulder injury, so it would be a major boost for the OSU running game if their star rusher is able to suit up. Third-stringer Calvin Tyler would be forced to carry the load against Stanford this Saturday if neither tailback is able to play.

Oregon State junior RB Jermar Jefferson (illness) is cleared to play Saturday against Stanford.
Jefferson (5'10/214) has been incredible in his four games this season, rushing for at least 120 yards and a touchdown in each. He is coming off his best game of the year, where he rushed 29 times for 226 yards, a 7.8 YPC and two touchdowns in an upset victory over in state rival Oregon. The junior tailback has established himself as one of the top rushers in the Pac-12 and will lead the Beavers in their season finale against Stanford.

Oregon State junior RB Jermar Jefferson, who was held out of last weekend’s loss to Utah due to COVID-19 protocols, could be available for Saturday’s game vs. Stanford.
Getting Jefferson (5'10/214) back for the regular season finale would give the Beavers a welcome boost, as he is one of the top running backs in the Pac-12. And Oregon State currently has some depth issues at running back, as B.J. Boston is considered to be questionable for Saturday’s game due to a shoulder injury. Should one -- or both -- either be limited or held out of the matchup with Stanford, Calvin Tyler would be next in line for an increase in reps.

  • ATL Running Back #36
Oregon State redshirt junior RB B.J. Baylor sat out the second half of Saturday’s loss to Utah due to a shoulder injury.
Baylor (5'11/209) accounted for rushed for 19 yards on three carries and caught one pass for another 12 yards before exiting Saturday’s 30-24 defeat. Whether or not the redshirt junior will be available for Saturday’s game vs. Stanford remains to be seen. Oregon State with without star back Jermar Jefferson for the Utah loss, and once Baylor went down Calvin Tyler was left to shoulder much of the load. To not have both Jefferson and Baylor this weekend would thrust Tyler into a starring role.
