Chargers signed Coastal Carolina DT Jerrod Clark.
Clark (6’4/337) was originally recruited as a tight end, but put on over 100 pounds of mass during his five-year college career as he bulked up to handle the position change. His first couple of years were a transition period marred by personal tragedy. However, he finished his career as a team captain and earned his degree. Though his athletic testing was abysmal at the Combine, his role at the next level likely won’t require all that much movement. Instead, Clark holds the point of attack well by leveraging his feet to aid in his exertion of force on offensive linemen. The heaviest DT in the class, he will need to keep his pad level lower to decrease the surface area by which he can be blocked. Nevertheless, he possesses good length to pair with his considerable mass and should find more consistency in his weight with a professional nutrition program.
