Engleberger has ten tackles, a sack and a forced fumble on the season so far.

The light-weight defensive end isn’t a fit in San Francisco’s new 3-4 defense. Both players have two years remaining on their current contracts. Engelberger joins a very crowded Denver defensive line.

He sat out Tuesday’s session. After he failed to redo his contract this offseason and the Broncos selected defensive ends with their first two draft picks, Lang’s roster spot could be in jeopardy. Lang, John Engelberger, and Ebenezer Ekuban appear to be battling for one or two spots on the club.

Denver should strongly consider re-signing Ekuban as a replacement for John Engelberger, whose deal voided after he met playing-time standards last year. Ekuban and 2007 first-round pick Jarvis Moss could compete to start at left end, opposite RE Elvis Dumervil, in training camp this summer.

The Broncos are taking a cautious approach with Lynch, who “experienced some tingling in his hands last week” and he could be a game-time decision. DE John Engelberger (shoulder) sat out practice. WR and punt returner Glenn Martinez (bruised ribs) practiced and is expected to play against the Chiefs.
