Seahawks signed sixth-round WR Jordan Kent to a four-year contract.
The deal is believed to be for four years. Kent, an insanely gifted athlete and leaper, will have a tough time making it past final cuts as a rookie but surely will capture a spot on a practice squad. The Oregon product was held out of minicamp and Organized Team work due to a lingering toe injury.
  • SEA Wide Receiver
Seahawks signed sixth-round WR Courtney Taylor to a multi-year contract.
Taylor, an Auburn alum, is a good fit for Seattle’s West Coast offense. His long speed isn’t great but he’ll make acrobatic catches and move the chains. If it comes down to Jordan Kent and Taylor, expect Taylor to make the team.
  • LA Wide Receiver
    Seahawks released WR Jordan Kent.
The sixth-round rookie’s athletic ability should help him find a spot on the practice squad.
  • LA Wide Receiver
Seahawks signed WRs Jordan Kent and Logan Payne, CB Kevin Hobbs, LB Cameron Jensen, DE Nu’u Tafisi, TE Joe Newton, FB David Kirtman, and OL Steve Vallos to their practice squad.
Newton may be of use during the season considering that Marcus Pollard is 35 and an injury risk. Kent is a stud athlete and will get much needed learning experience in practice. He and Vallos were both ’07 draft choices.
  • FA Wide Receiver #86
Deion Branch and Deon Butler are listed as the second-string receivers on Seattle’s first training camp depth chart.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh is the starting flanker with Nate Burleson holding down split end. Flanker Ben Obomanu and split end Jordan Kent are on the third team. Branch’s role figures to be situational. He’s a third receiver at best.
  • LA Wide Receiver
Seahawks waived WR Jordan Kent with an injury settlement.
Kent was a former track star at Oregon. He’s talented enough to get another shot down the line.
  • LA Wide Receiver
The Rams worked out free agent WR Jordan Kent late last week.
St. Louis isn’t getting any production from its wideouts, and Kent has an idea of the system having played in West Coast offenses with Mike Holmgren for the Seahawks. Kent is scheduled to work out for the Buccaneers this week.
  • FA Wide Receiver #18
The Tacoma News Tribune estimates that Logan Payne is Seattle’s fourth receiver at the moment, behind Bobby Engram, Nate Burleson, and Courtney Taylor.
It appears Payne has passed Ben Obomanu and Jordan Kent. Payne has learned multiple positions on offense (slot, flanker), which could give him the edge over Taylor as the third receiver when roles are determined later on.
  • LA Wide Receiver
Jordan Kent caught four passes for 47 yards and a touchdown against San Diego in Seattle’s third exhibition game.
Kent has been the Seahawks’ most productive preseason receiver, leading the team with nine total grabs for 115 yards and two scores. He’s raw, but could be pushing Nate Burleson for snaps at split end by midseason.
  • LA Wide Receiver
    Seahawks waived WR Jordan Kent.
He was the rawest of the Seahawks wideouts who made the final roster, and apparently didn’t look ready for the real thing in Week 1. Kent failed to haul in all five of his targets and is likely headed to the practice squad.
