    Chargers waived RB Jordan Todman.
He’s being replaced on the Chargers’ active roster by the slightly more experienced Curtis Brinkley. A sixth-round out of Connecticut, Todman had yet to be active this season.
  • Running Back
Vikings signed RB Jordan Todman from the Chargers’ practice squad.
The sixth-round scatback racked up 3,179 yards and 31 rushing TDs in 3 seasons with UConn. The Vikings will take a look at him in the offseason as a possible change-of-pace to Toby Gerhart with Adrian Peterson questionable for the start of the 2012 season.
  • FA Running Back #36
Vikings waived or released RB Lex Hilliard, FB Ryan D’Imperio, OL Chris DeGeare and Kevin Murphy, WR Emmanuel Arceneaux, DE Nick Reed, DE Jeff Charleston and DT Trevor Guyton.
Hilliard’s release speaks more about the progress of Jordan Todman than it does Adrian Peterson’s knee rehab. Todman will be the No. 3 running back on paper and could be the No. 2 guy if Peterson doesn’t play a major role in Week 1. A seventh-round pick, Guyton should be stashed on the practice squad if he clears waivers.
  • Running Back
Jordan Todman will battle Lex Hilliard for the Vikings’ third-string tailback job in training camp.
If Adrian Peterson (knee) is ready to go for Week 1, this battle will be moot. But if he’s not, the Vikings will need a speed complement for Toby Gerhart. Todman is a 5'9/193 scatback that was signed off the Chargers’ practice squad late last year. He has more wiggle and explosion than Hilliard.
  • Running Back
Vikings waived or released RB Jordan Todman, CB Chris Carr, S Eric Frampton, DT Chase Baker, CB Bobby Felder, OG Tyler Holmes, CB Reggie Jones, LB Corey Paredes, OG Austin Pasztor, C Quentin Saulsberry and TE Mickey Shuler.
Todman did all he could with 114 yards on 10 carries in the preseason finale, but it wasn’t enough. The Vikes opted to keep fullback/running back hybrid Matt Asiata instead.
  • FA Running Back #36
According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Vikings RB Lex Hilliard is “tightening his grip” on the No. 3 job.
Hilliard is a 28-year-old journeyman who doesn’t offer a ton at tailback, but is versatile enough to chip in at fullback and on special teams. He currently holds the edge on Jordan Todman, who is dealing with a sprained ankle. With Adrian Peterson clear of active/PUP, Hilliard won’t see many offensive snaps this season.
  • Running Back
Jaguars signed RB Jordan Todman off the Vikings practice squad.
Todman’s addition is a sign that Jalen Parmele (groin) is unlikely to play after dragging his leg through the hole in last week’s game. Expect Rashad Jennings to start at Buffalo with Todman adding depth as the third-stringer behind Montell Owens.
  • Running Back
Jaguars declared RB Jordan Todman, DE Austen Lane, RB Maurice Jones-Drew, WR Toney Clemons, CB Derek Cox, OL Steve Vallos, and DT Jeris Pendleton inactive for Week 13.
Todman was expected to be part of the rotation at running back, but he needs another week after just signing. Rashad Jennings will likely play as an every-down back with special teamer Montell Owens as the backup.
  • FA Running Back #20
Justin Forsett has been running with the starters during OTAs and minicamp.
With Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) still rehabbing away from the team, Forsett is getting a chance to establish himself. The career backup has just 341 carries across four NFL seasons, but has posted an impressive 4.87 YPC. Rookie Denard Robinson and Jordan Todman are rotating in behind Forsett.
  • Running Back
RB Jordan Todman passed through waivers unclaimed.
It’s worth noting that Todman drew no interest around the league despite a bevy of running back injuries. The shifty rookie out of UConn has signed back on with the Chargers as part of their practice squad.
