Lions RT Penei Sewell (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday.
The Lions’ offensive line continues to work its way through injuries. Sewell has already played through a few of his own, and will likely be on the field this week against the Bears, in what should be a fantasy-friendly game environment. Lions LG Christian Mahogany (illness) was also sidelined, as was his backup, OG Kayode Awosika (illness).
  • DET Wide Receiver #14
Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) is active for Week 14 against the Cowboys.
St. Brown was unable to practice this week after injuring his ankle last Thursday against the Packers. While he possesses some re-injury risk, he was moving very well during warmups and should be started against the Cowboys this evening. The Lions declared S Kerby Joseph, WR Kalif Raymond, OG Kayode Awosika, TE Hayden Rucci, DL Mekhi Wingo and DL Tyler Lacy inactive for Week 14 against the Cowboys. Lions RT Penei Sewell (shoulder), LT Taylor Decker (shoulder/rest) and C Graham Glasgow (knee) are active.
  • DET Tackle #58
Lions RT Penei Sewell (shoulder) is expected to play in Week 14 against the Cowboys.
Lions LT Taylor Decker (shoulder/rest) and C Graham Glasgow (knee) are also expected to play. No word yet on Lions LG Kayode Awosika (foot). Likely having 3-of-4 injured starters on the field is good news for QB Jared Goff, who must face the Cowboys’ top-tier pass-rush unit this evening. Hopefully, the group can improve its health in the coming weeks.
  • DET Tackle #58
Lions RT Penei Sewell (shoulder) is questionable to play in Week 14 against the Cowboys.
Lions LT Taylor Decker (shoulder/rest) joins Sewell in the questionable department. Both players are frequently gutting it out on game day, so we do tentatively expect both players to suit up tomorrow night. The Cowboys’ defense has been playing well in recent weeks. Lions LG Kayode Awosika (foot) was added to the injury report on Tuesday and did not practice on Wednesday, which is not a good sign. Lions C Graham Glasgow (knee) was limited all week. The latter two players are also questionable.
  • DET Wide Receiver #14
Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown is questionable to return in Week 13 against the Packers after suffering an ankle injury.
St. Brown was embracing the Lions’ “no block, no rock” philosophy by attempting to help RB Jahmyr Gibbs pick up yards on a run play. The Packers’ defender stood St. Brown up just before fill-in starting C Trystan Colon and LG Kayode Awosika hit the ground behind him, simultaneously rolling in the back of St. Brown’s legs. Lions trainers were seemingly assessing St. Brown’s right ankle before the broadcast cut to commercial. He headed straight to the locker room once he was on his feet.
  • DET Guard #74
Lions re-signed OG Kayode Awosika to a contract.
This will be Awosika’s third season in Detroit. He serves as a trusted, if middling, backup for the team’s interior offensive line group. Awosika earned a career-best 59.4 PFF pass-blocking grade last year.
  • DET Running Back #13
    Lions re-signed RB Craig Reynolds.
Reynolds was an exclusive rights free agent this offseason and will now return to battle for a spot on the team’s 53-man roster. The former UDFA has stuck around on the Lions for the last three seasons after previous stops in Washington and Jacksonville and has totaled 119-511-1 on the ground while adding another 22 catches for 218 yards since 2021. His contributions on special teams have been valuable in his efforts to make the team each of the last three seasons and will likely play a role in deciding whether or not he’s on the team in 2024.
  • Running Back
    Eagles released RB Jordan Howard.
The Eagles now have just three running backs on their roster: Miles Sanders, Boston Scott, and Kenny Gainwell. The Eagles also waived/released DB Andrew Adams, OT Le’Raven Clark, DL Hassan Ridgeway, TE Richard Rodgers, DB Kevon Seymour, DB Grayland Arnold, OG Kayode Awosika, WR Travis Fulgham, WR John Hightower, RB Jason Huntley, DB Craig James, DL Matt Leo, OG Iosua Opeta, WR Andre Patton, C Ross Pierschbacher, DB Elijah Riley, S JaCoby Stevens, and DL Raequan Williams.

  • Eagles signed Buffalo OG Kayode Awosika.
Awosika (6'3/307) was a three-year starter at tackle for Buffalo who is expected to kick inside in the pros. Awosika spent his first two seasons at right tackle and earned second-team all-MAC honors in the second season. In 2020, Awosika flipped over to left tackle, propelling himself into the first-team All-MAC squad. Awosika is getting kicked inside to guard mostly for his height and short arms (32-5/8 inches), but he legitimately has the power and grittiness to be more of a phonebooth player. Awosika is not the most natural athlete, but he does well once he gets going (5.19s 40-yard dash) and can be a real menace with a full head of steam. Awosika’s hand placement and footwork are a bit too loose right now, though, which is why he will need some time to acclimate to the NFL while on the Eagles’ practice squad.

  • Buffalo redshirt senior T Kayode Awosika declared for the NFL Draft.
Awosika (6'5/300) is a three year starter who was named All-Mac Second Team for his play at right tackle. He anchored the right side of a dominant offensive line that posted school records for rushing yards in 2018 and 2019. A mauler in the run game, the redshirt senior was awarded a superb 90.4 run blocking grade from PFF College for one of the best offensive lines in the country. He currently projects in the OG 20 range but that could change depending on how he tests at the NFL Scouting Combine. Awosika is expected to be viewed as a guard at the NFL level and is likely to earn a mid-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.
