Commanders LT Laremy Tunsil (oblique) will not play in Washington’s Week 18 game against the Eagles.
Tunsil ends the year with a career-best 84.7 PFF offensive grade in 802 snaps. The trade for Tunsil was largely successful for the Commanders — it’s just that one man is not a whole offensive line and Jayden Daniels got hurt anyway. He enters the final year of his contract in 2026 and, given that extension concerns were what sent him to Washington in the first place, probably will have some work done on his deal this offseason. This oblique injury is not expected to linger.

Comanders LT Laremy Tunsil (oblique) will not play in Week 17 against the Cowboys.
Tunsil suffered a strained oblique in Week 15 and hasn’t practiced or played since. Josh Johnson will make his first start of the year without his left tackle. Our hopes for the Washington offense are not high this week.
  • WAS Tackle #78
Commanders delared QB Jayden Daniels, RB Chase Edmonds, T George Fant, T Laremy Tunsil, TE Colson Yankoff, and DT Eddie Goldman inactive for Week 16 against the Eagles.
The Commanders will be without both starting offensive tackles in a game started by backup quarterback Marcus Mariota, potentially opening the door for defensive dominance from a relentless Eagles defense. Expect a reliance on the ground game to start while getting back Chris Rodriguez from a one-game absence, but that stance could quickly shift should the Commanders fall behind early.

Commanders LT Laremy Tunsil (oblique) will not play in Week 16 against the Eagles.
Tunsil strained his oblique in Week 15. Now Marcus Mariota will draw another start, this time without his left tackle. Brandon Coleman took over for him mid-game last week and will likely keep that gig into Week 16.

Commanders LT Laremy Tunsil (oblique) did not practice Tuesday.
Tunsil suffered an oblique injury in Week 15 and his status for Week 16 is in flux. Commanders head coach Dan Quinn on Monday that Tunsil will play “if he can”, but the left tackle starts out the week not practicing. Practice reports later in the week will tell if Tunsil is good to go for Saturday against the Eagles.

Commanders coach Dan Quinn said LT Laremy Tunsil (oblique) will play Saturday “if he can.”
“We’ll have to see what the strength looks like for him -- the movement, the strength -- over these next couple days,” he said. The star left tackle left Washington’s win over the Giants in Week 15. Tunsil has had his best season in years per PFF, with an 84.7 overall offensive grade while cutting his penalties from 19 last year to eight in 2025. The Commanders, 4-10, have not lived up to their part of the bargain with Tunsil, and with nothing to play for, don’t have a reason to push him out there in Week 16 if he’s not healthy.
  • WAS Tackle #78
Commanders acquired LT Laremy Tunsil and a 2025 fourth-round pick from the Texans in exchange for four draft picks.
The picks are: Washington’s 2026 second-rounder, 2025 third-rounder, 2026 fourth-rounder and 2025 seventh-rounder. This is a wild trade on its face for the Texans: They are moving on from their only true left tackle and not getting much in the way of premium picks. Tunsil had a 89.1 PFF pass block grade in 2024 and while he’s never been good as a run blocker, he’s been acceptable out there. Tunsil is entering his age-31 season, and getting off his contract frees up $13.8 million in cap space for the Texans. The Commanders, meanwhile, have solidified the offensive line for Jayden Daniels. And while 31 seems old in the NFL, elite left tackles have played well into their 30s. It’s a puzzling move for the Texans on first blush, and they will now have the burden of replacing Tunsil without anything more to show for it in 2025 but third- and seventh-round picks.
  • HOU Tackle #78
Laremy Tunsil (ankle) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.
Tunsil aggravated his ankle injury in Week 6 so the his limited participation on a typical rest day is encouraging. The Texans will need Tunsil for an expectedly back-and-forth affair against the Packers this week.
  • HOU Tackle #78
Texans LT Laremy Tunsil (ankle) left Houston’s Week 6 game against the Patriots and is questionable to return.
Tunsil has spent time on the injury report with an ankle status the last few weeks after leaving Week 4’s game against the Jaguars with it. Blake Fisher replaced Tunsil at left tackle.
  • HOU Tackle #78
Texans LT Laremy Tunsil (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.
Tunsil left the Texans’ Week 4 game versus the Jags in the second quarter. He was listed as questionable to return but was back on the field later in the game. His status will be worth monitoring throughout the week as the Texans prepare to take on the Bills.
