Broncos selected Mississippi State DE Marquiss Spencer with the No. 248 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Spencer, 23, ballooned in 2020 to 300 pounds, and the weight gain clearly impacted his play. He could be forced to move inside if he continues to gain weight in the pros. Spencer impressed during his pro day, posting an 87th percentile speed score and an 88th percentile agility score. NFL.com described Spencer as “a flash player with natural strength to strike and play around blocks, but too often he ends up on the ground or blocked.” He’ll join a Denver pass rush graded by PFF as the league’s ninth best last year.
