Saints placed WR Mason Tipton on injured reserve with a groin injury.
The Saints added Tipton to the squad in 2024 as an undrafted free agent. Injuries and a trade allowed him to work his way into the wide receiver rotation late in the year, though he caught just 11-of-17 targets for 76 yards and rushed four times for 18 yards. He also returned 12 kicks for 378 yards and will likely chip in as a returner again next season. He has one year remaining on his contract. He is highly unlikely to be a fantasy contributor in 2026.
  • NO Wide Receiver #15
Saints WR Mason Tipton (groin) did not practice on Thursday.
Tipton is now on the wrong side of questionable, which is unfortunate. The Saints will be without WR Chris Olave, who is in the hospital, recovering from a blood clot in his lung. This likely leaves WRs Kevin Austin and Dante Pettis atop the depth chart against the Panthers.
  • NO Wide Receiver #15
Mason Tipton caught 4-of-5 targets for 29 yards in the Saints’ Week 16 win against the Jets, adding one rush for 12 yards.
Tipton was an every-down wideout for the Saints alongside Chris Olave, who led the team with 16 targets and ten grabs on the day. Week 16 marked the first time in 2025 Tipton had more than three receptions in a game. He can safely be left on waiver wires ahead of Week 17.
  • NO Wide Receiver #15
Saints WR Mason Tipton (illness) is questionable to play in Week 16 against the Jets.
Tipton missed the Saints’ last two practices. Players typically play through illnesses, but he appears to be truly questionable. Were he to sit out, it would leave the Saints with only WRs Chris Olave, Kevin Austin Jr. and Dante Pettis on the active roster. Olave should handle a significant target share, per usual.
  • NO Wide Receiver #15
Saints WR Mason Tipton (illness) did not practice on Thursday.
Tipton still has a chance to play, but this is unideal. With WR Devaughn Vele (shoulder) already ruled out, Tipton is slated for No. 2 wide receiver duties. Saints WR Chris Olave and TE Juwan Johnson should handle significant workloads against the Jets this week.
  • NO Wide Receiver #84
Saints declared WR Mason Tipton, QB Spencer Rattler, RB Jordan Mims, LB Jaylan Ford and DT Khristian Boyd inactive for Week 14 against the Giants.
No surprises for a Saints team that is not close to healthy, but simply has all of its injured players on I.R. 24-year-old UDFA Tipton is going to be in a fight for roster survival next summer.
  • NO Wide Receiver #84
Saints declared WR Mason Tipton, QB Spencer Rattler, RB Jamaal Williams, S Millard Bradford, LB Jaylan Ford Lucas Patrick, and DT Khristian Boyd inactive for Week 11 against the Browns.
Tipton will be inactive against the Browns, leaving Marques Valdes-Scantling and Cedrick Wilson as the team’s top two wideouts. MVS is coming off a two-touchdown performance against the Falcons and can be used as a WR4 in 12-team formats. Jamaal Williams will miss another game with a groin injury, opening up touches for Taysom Hill as the Saints’ No. 2 running back.
  • NO Wide Receiver #11
Saints declared WR Cedrick Wilson, CB Kool-Aid McKinstry, QB Spencer Rattler, RB Jamaal Williams, LB Jaylan Ford, C Lucas Patrick, and DT Khristian Boyd inactive for Week 10 against the Falcons.
Wilson had seen ten targets over the past two games as the Saints struggle with a spate of wideout injuries. With Wilson and Chris Olave (concussion) sidelined, Mason Tipton will likely function as the team’s No. 1 receiver. Look for a heavy workload for both Alvin Kamara and Taysom Hill in Week 10.
  • NO Wide Receiver #11
Cedrick Wilson (shoulder) will not play in Week 10 against the Falcons.
The down-horrific Saints are without four of their top five receivers for this game. Mason Tipton is the last man standing among that group. Tipton was targeted three times last week but failed to bring in a single one of them. The sickest of sickos can roll him out as a WR5 for fantasy purposes.
  • NO Wide Receiver #84
Mason Tipton was held without a catch on three targets in the Saints’ Week 9 loss to the Panthers.
It’s an awful box score considering Bub Means was sidelined and Chris Olave departed with another concussion. Derek Carr deserves a large part of the blame, but Tipton would have done more here if he were seriously threatening to start posting better box scores. The UDFA has exceeded 20 yards one time all season.
