Cowboys selected Nebraska OG Matt Farniok with the No. 238 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Farniok (6'5/311) played all over the line in Lincoln, making starts at right guard, right tackle and center. He earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors in 2020 after making seven starts at right guard and one at the pivot. Unsurprisingly, he is expected to man the interior in the big leagues. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein belives there is “room for continued growth as a run blocker but his pass protection is below average.” Farniok’s versatility will be an asset as he tries to impress on the practice squad.

  • Nebraska signed four-star T Matt Farniok.
A Sioux Falls, South Dakota, native, Farniok received interest from Big Ten rivals Iowa and Michigan State. He ultimately committed to Nebraska in late January before sealing the deal on National Signing Day. The 6-foot-5, 316-pounder’s size is already palatable at this early stage. ESPN 300 ranks him the No. 21 player at tackle, No. 257 overall. Their scouting department would like to see him “becom[e] more experienced playing in space and staying with quicker defenders.” They speculate that he could possibly move inside to guard, though that’s not a given.
