Jets re-signed OT Max Mitchell to a one-year contract.
Mitchell played just 73 snaps last year and hasn’t topped 500 snaps in a season yet since being drafted in the fourth round in 2022. He’ll return to a backup role on the Jets offensive line.

Jets placed OT Max Mitchell on the non-football injury list.
Mitchell’s 2022 season is over. Jets head coach Robert Saleh would not elaborate on how Mitchell, a rookie out of Louisiana, landed on the NFI list. Mitchell had been on injured reserve with a knee injury he suffered in early October. Mitchell’s absence will be a blow to the team’s offensive line depth.

Jets designated OT Max Mitchell (knee) to return from injured reserve.
Mitchell can now begin practicing for the Jets and has a 21-day window to be added to the active roster. Mitchell should provide the Jets with some additional offensive line depth when he is healthy enough to return to action.

Jets placed OT Max Mitchell (knee) on injured reserve.
Rookie OT Max Mitchell reportedly avoided a season-ending injury to his knee but will now miss a minimum of four games on the league’s injured reserve following the dislocation. Mitchell marks the fourth offensive tackle to hit the IR this season for the Jets, who are now extremely thin at the position. Things will not get any easier in Week 5 as the Jets prepare for the stout defensive front of the visiting Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Jets OT Max Mitchell (knee) did not suffer a season-ending injury against the Steelers.
Mitchell is expected to miss “several weeks” after suffering a dislocation, but he is expected to return this season. It’s a positive outcome for the rookie after he was carted off the field on Sunday. Mitchell was only starting due to injuries, so his absence leaves the Jets thin on the offensive line for the time being.

Jets OT Max Mitchell (knee) was carted from the field in Week 4 against the Steelers.
Mitchell was ruled out shortly after leaving the field. The Jets already have three offensive tackles on injured reserve. Mitchell, a fourth-round rookie, was starting at right tackle because of the injuries. The Steelers have already found success getting to Zach Wilson in this game. Things won’t be any easier for the second-year quarterback in the second half.

Jets selected Lousiana OT Max Mitchell with the No. 111 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Mitchell (6’6/297) was an unheralded two-star recruit of out Louisiana who selected the Ragin’ Cajuns, his only FBS offer. After rotating in as a freshman, Mitchell started every game the rest of his career in Lafayette. During his senior season, Mitchell was named an All-American by eight different publications including first-team by Pro Football Focus. Mitchell only allowed 40 pressures in 1,280 pass-blocking snaps or one pressure for every 32 snaps per PFF. A true mainstay on the Ragin’ Cajuns offensive line, Mitchell’s best attribute is consistency. He knows how to use his athleticism and length to his advantage. His footwork needs to be cleaned up, but the ability to play on both sides of the line and long-term starter potential is a great value to begin Day 3.

Mitchell (6'6/297) was one of the best run blocking right tackles in the nation last season according to Pro Football Focus, who gave him a run blocking grade of 95.0 on the season. While run blocking may have been his greatest strength, Mitchell was one of the best overall tackles in the nation. On passing downs, he surrendered just 13 quarterback pressures on 430 passing downs, while allowing only three sacks on the season.
