Patriots placed rookie CB Mike Richardson on injured reserve with an arm injury, ending his season.
Richardson, a sixth-round pick, was on the roster bubble, but New England’s secondary continues to be plagued by the injury bug. Chad Scott has also been lost for the season.
  • IND Defensive Back
Patriots rookie CB Mike Richardson was wearing a sling and a wrap on his left arm after Friday night’s game.
Richardson played with the starters in nickel and dime packages, but allowed Keary Colbert’s 48-yard touchdown by slipping. Neither development helps his shot at making the roster.
  • IND Defensive Back
Patriots signed sixth-round DB Mike Richardson to a four-year contract.
Richardson was frequently victimized as a cornerback at Notre Dame. He’ll be gunning on special teams if he somehow makes the final 53-man roster.
  • IND Defensive Back
    Patriots released CB Mike Richardson.
After adding Leigh Bodden, Shawn Springs, and Darius Butler, the Pats are much deeper at corner this year. The 2007 sixth-rounder will try to catch on elsewhere.
  • IND Defensive Back
The Browns reportedly put free agent CB Mike Richardson through a workout on Wednesday.
They must not love what they’ve seen from rookie Coye Francies. Richardson, cut by the Pats in mid-August, is familiar with coach Eric Mangini’s scheme. The 2007 sixth-round pick would play special teams in Cleveland.
  • IND Defensive Back
    Chiefs signed CB Mike Richardson.
Richardson, a 2007 sixth-rounder, was cut by the Patriots in August. The Chiefs also signed LB David Herron, yet another former Patriot.
  • Patriots released RB Benjarvus Green-Ellis, DL Tituss Adam, TE Tyson DeVreen, S Mark Dillard, LB Vince Redd, CB Mike Richardson, T Stephen Sene, G John Welbourn, and DL Santonio Thomas.
No surprises in this group. Richardson was a sixth-round pick out of Notre Dame. Welbourn has been in the league a long time and could be done.

The Boston Herald considers Fernando Bryant likely to start at cornerback for the Patriots opposite Ellis Hobbs.
Rookies Terrence Wheatley and Jonathan Wilhite, Brandon Meriweather, veteran addition Jason Webster, and Mike Richardson seem poised to vie for nickel duties. The Pats’ secondary doesn’t appear too promising on paper.
  • DEN Running Back
Patriots downgraded LaMont Jordan and CB Mike Richardson to out Saturday. They didn’t travel to Miami.
It’s a little surprising the Patriots have hung on to Jordan for seven weeks while he’s been hurt. Laurence Maroney didn’t warrant the same treatment. Sammy Morris figures to lead the Patriots in touches against Miami.
