The Vikings managed to score a late touchdown to take their first second-half lead in a month. And then the Vikings let the Lions drive into field goal range on a drive that started with 23 seconds left.

On two plays, the Lions got to the Minnesota 40. Quarterback Matthew Stafford spiked the ball to stop the clock, allowing kicker Matt Prater a chance to tie the game from 58 yards.

It would have been good from 68.

Curiously, the Vikings opted not to take a time out to ice Prater. If Prater has a chance to tie or win the game in overtime, maybe they should.
