With the Eagles and Patriots going head-to-head for a joint practice in Foxborough before playing Saturday’s preseason game, members of Philadelphia’s beat corps got a chance to visit with receiver A.J. Brown after Wednesday’s session.
Brown, who was traded in June from the Eagles to the Patriots after four seasons with Philadelphia, told reporters that he didn’t want to revisit the reasons he wanted a change of scenery.
“I’m here now,” Brown said, via Sports Radio 94 WIP. “I’m not going backwards.”
“[I]t’s not about no closure or anything. It’s love,” Brown added. “I won a Super Bowl ring with them. It’ll always be love no matter how anyone feels. I love Philly and I will always love Philly. But I’m here now. And this is where my feet are and that’s what I’m focused on.”
But when asked if he’d spoken with quarterback Jalen Hurts since the trade, Brown simply replied, “No.”
Why not?
“Philly, man, y’all are tough,” Brown said to that question with a laugh. “Man, it’s love. Listen — honestly, guys, none of that stuff even matters. You all should want to report something positive. You know asking the question is going to turn negative. Let’s not get into that. Let’s keep everything positive.
“It’s love my way. And move forward, that’s all.”
Does Brown plan to speak with Hurts this week?
“I’m sure, if our paths [cross], sure,” he said.
