Last year, two rookies brought considerable excitement to the Jaguars -- Denard Robinson and Ace Sanders. Already, one of them possibly could be moving toward becoming a former Jaguar.
Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union recently suggested that Sanders, a fourth-round pick in 2013, may be on the bubble to make the 53-man roster.
“It wouldn’t be a shock because 5-foot-7 players who don’t make guys miss don’t have a ton of value,” O’Halloran writes. “That said, if he improves his punt return stats in August, he deserves to make the 53-man roster.”
Last year, Sanders appeared in 15 games with four starts, catching 51 passes for 484 yards and one touchdown. He returned 25 punts, averaging 5.6 yards per attempt and a long of 17 yards.
If all else fails, maybe Sanders can play quarterback. As a rookie, he threw one pass for one completion, which went for 21 yards and a touchdown. It gives him a perfect passer rating of 158.3.
