Arian Foster’s status to be determined Sunday

Foster

The decision on Texans tailback Arian Foster’s playing status will come Sunday morning.

At his Friday press conference, Texans coach Bill O’Brien again indicated the team won’t make the call on whether the injured Foster will suit up until game day, Deepi Sidhu of Texans Radio reported. The same goes for punter Shane Lechler, O’Brien said.

Foster has been battling a hamstring injury. If he can’t play Sunday vs. Buffalo, the Texans will start rookie Alfred Blue, who filled in for Foster in last Sunday’s loss at the Giants.

One of the game’s most versatile backs, Foster played an important role in Houston’s 2-0 start, rushing for 241 yards and a touchdown on 55 carries.

In the case of Lechler, we may well know before Sunday whether he’s going to play. The Texans’ reserve punter, Chris Boswell, is on the practice squad, and he would have to be promoted to the roster to play on Sunday.
