One of the best stories in the NFL this preseason will keep going.
Jarryd Hayne, the Australian rugby league player who had never played American football before, said on Twitter this afternoon that the 49ers told him he made the 53-man roster.
It’s still possible that the 49ers could make another roster move in the next week and Hayne won’t be on the team for Week One, but at the moment it appears that Hayne will be a 49er for the 2015 season.
The 49ers still haven’t said exactly how they’ll use Hayne, but he has shown promise as a punt returner, kickoff returner and running back. Most importantly, he’s shown he belongs in the NFL.
