The Bengals have plenty of receiving targets, but after losing two of them in free agency, they still needed to bring somebody in.
They’ve done so today, agreeing to a deal with former Patriots wideout Brandon LaFell, per multiple reports.
LaFell was cut by the Patriots after an injury-marred 2015, but he’s only a year removed from a strong season in New England. He had 75 catches for 953 yards and seven touchdowns in 2014, after coming over from the Panthers in free agency.
His hands aren’t always sure, but he’s a big target who has shown an ability to make plays downfield.
The Bengals lost Marvin Jones (Lions) and Mohamed Sanu (Falcons) in free agency this offseason, but they were better prepared than most to handle a defection.
They do still have a couple of guys named A.J. Green and Tyler Eifert, so LaFell could fit in as a nice complement.
