Georgia tight end Orson Charles was a consensus first-team All-SEC pick in 2011, before leaving school early for the pros. He was a big-time weapon in the Bulldogs’ pro-style passing attack, finishing his college career with a 14.6 yards-per-reception average and ten touchdown catches.
Charles sent up red flags, however, with far worse measurables in workouts than anticipated, a pre-draft agent change, and an early-March DUI arrest. Charles was likely scratched off a number of teams’ draft boards.
The Bengals are less bothered by character concerns than most teams, and they snatched him up at the 116th overall pick. In Cincinnati, Charles could develop into an excellent No. 2 tight end behind starter Jermaine Gresham.
