Brandon Browner: I’d like another stint with Seahawks after Saints deal is up

Cornerback Brandon Browner hasn’t played a snap for the Saints yet, but he apparently isn’t letting that get in the way of thinking about what he’d like to do when his three-year contract with New Orleans is up.

Browner was at former Seahawks teammate Richard Sherman’s charity softball game at Safeco Field in Seattle on Sunday and Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times reports that Browner said he wants to return for a second tour of duty with the Seahawks after he’s played out his pact with the Saints.

Some in New Orleans might not be crazy about Browner talking about the next steps in his career, but those people can’t even be sure that the Saints would still want him at that point. Browner will turn 31 in August, which means he’ll be turning 34 when his contract with the Saints comes to an end in 2018 and the variables -- Browner’s performance, New Orleans’s cap situation, the quality of the secondary -- are so numerous that it’s impossible to predict how things will play out.

That makes it tempting to write this off as playing to the hometown crowd while surrounded by former teammates on a pleasant July evening rather than some serious declaration about where he’ll be headed three years from now.
