Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr has agreed to a 2016 pay cut of around $3 million.

Carr became the NFL’s highest-paid cornerback in 2012 when he signed a five-year, $50 million deal with the Cowboys after four seasons with the Chiefs. After taking this pay cut, he’ll play the final year of his current contract at a base salary of around $6 million.

He had been slated to make $9.1 million. Carr’s salary cap hit drops from $13.8 million down to around $10 million for 2016 after the restructure.

Carr has never missed a start and is probably again slated to be a starter for the Cowboys, who own the No. 4 pick when the NFL Draft begins Thursday night. Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey is thought to be one of the players the Cowboys are considering with that pick.

Carr turns 30 next month. He has 14 career interceptions but none over the last two seasons.
