The Seattle Seahawks seemingly lost two different players to Achilles injuries within minutes of each other during practice on Thursday.

Fullback/tight end Brandon Cottom and tight end Ronnie Shields each had to be carted off the practice fields during the first half of practice.

Cottom (pictured) was the first of the pair to go down in a non-contact situation during one-on-one receiving drills.

“It’s one of those things where, on air, foot in the ground and bam,” head coach Pete Carroll said.

As the team brought a cart onto the field to attend to Cottom, Shields then fell to the turf about 20 yards away. Shields had to be helped to the sideline by a trainer and teammate Jimmy Graham before the cart could return to carry him away.

Cottom’s injury appeared to be to his left leg while Shields grabbed at his right ankle. Cottom seemed to be the favorite early in training camp to earn fullback duties for Seattle.

Carroll wasn’t definitive on either player but said he believed each had suffered an Achilles injury immediately after practice.
