The Browns set their 75-man roster on Tuesday, but it didn’t take long for them to shuffle it up.

The Browns announced Wednesday that they have claimed linebacker Eric Martin off of waivers from the Saints. They waived cornerback Trevin Wade to make room for Martin on the roster.

Martin signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska and drew some good early notices in Saints camp. His play in the preseason wasn’t as impressive, however, and the Saints cut ties with him despite being very thin at linebacker. The Browns saw something they liked, though, and Martin is expected to be available for Thursday’s preseason finale against the Bears.

Wade was a seventh-round pick last year and he had 17 tackles in 13 games with the team last season. The arrival of Leon McFadden in the draft and Christopher Owens in free agency pushed Wade down the depth chart and a shoulder injury helped seal his fate in Cleveland.
