Browns defensive tackle Danny Shelton is a large man. That has been apparent since he entered the NFL on draft day last year by bear hugging Roger Goodell and effortlessly lifting him into the air.

But the Browns thought Shelton got too large last year. According to Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com, Shelton got up to 365 pounds by the end of last season but has dropped 30 pounds since then, and Browns defensive line coach Robert Nunn is urging him to keep that weight off.

“He can do so many more things at the weight he’s at right now and the condition he’s in,’' said Nunn. “So he’s got to keep that and time will tell. He’s the one that controls that. I can help him only so much and the strength coaches can only help him so much and Coach Jackson can only help him so much. I think he sees the difference of where he was and where he can be.’'

Nunn said he had a conversation with Shelton in which he told him that it’s his responsibility to keep the weight off this summer, and that his playing time will increase if he stays slim -- at least, slim by Shelton’s standards.
