In what could be a statement about the health of Brian Hoyer as much as the ridiculousness of the state of the quarterback union, the Browns have added another one.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Browns are going to sign journeyman Tyler Thigpen to give them some depth this weekend.
With Johnny Manziel unavailable and Hoyer’s shoulder sore, they needed someone to go with undrafted rookie Connor Shaw, and Thigpen is as qualified as anyone, I suppose.
He was in camp with them this summer before being cut in favor of Rex Grossman. The Browns offered Grossman the temp gig first, but he had a guy on the other line about a set of whitewalls and passed.
Thigpen’s had an interesting offseason since being cut by the Browns. In November, he was arrested on DUI charges in South Carolina, when cops found him passed out in a Wendy’s drive through line.
At least he was wearing pants.
