Today’s the day for players to use the leverage of the looming open market to squeeze better deals out of their teams, and a number of them have.

Or, in some cases, to hang onto the known commodity while the offer’s still on the table.

In Tampa, four of the guys who fall under the latter category have re-signed.

Per multiple reports, the Bucs are hanging onto safety Major Wright, defensive end Larry English, linebacker Jason Williams and tight end Luke Stocker.

While none are the kind of star-quality players getting deals elsewhere, all of them filled some roles. Stocker’s the only one of the lot to have been with the Bucs long-term, as the other three were picked up during the course of last season after being cut.

They’re depth moves, but the kind of guys they need to build a more stable base.
