C.J. Spiller feels good, but no decision on Sunday yet

Saints running back C.J. Spiller missed the first week of the regular season as he continues to make his way back from August knee surgery, but things are looking a bit better for this week.

Saints coach Sean Payton said Thursday, via Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Advocate, that Spiller is doing well and that he doesn’t think there will be any issues getting him ready to play despite his recent inactivity. Spiller said that he feels good, but neither man was willing to say whether Spiller would be in the lineup against Tampa.

Spiller did say that the delay in declaring his status for the game wasn’t because the Saints are trying to surprise the Buccaneers come Sunday.

“I ain’t into surprises,” Spiller said. “I don’t surprise nobody. I want you to see me coming full speed. It ain’t Halloween, baby. Trick or treat. I’m coming full speed at ya. Trust me, you’ll know when 28 is out there.”

If the Saints share Spiller’s disdain for surprises, we may find out his status for Sunday when the team releases its final injury report of the week on Friday afternoon. Based on how cagey they’ve been thus far, it seems more likely that he’ll be listed as questionable.
