Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward suggested this week that he might have to miss a game if his wife went into labor on Sunday. But that’s no longer a concern for Steelers fans.
Heyward’s wife gave birth to a boy this morning, he announced on Twitter.
It’s been a family-oriented season for Heyward, who has been in the news both because of his wife’s pregnancy and because he clashed with the league over his decision to honor his late father, former NFL running back Craig “Ironhead” Heyward, by writing “Iron” and “Head” on the eyeblack he wore during games. Cam Heyward and the NFL eventually settled their differences and he agreed not to wear personal messages on the field anymore.
Perhaps in 2037 or so, another Heyward will be in the NFL.
