Cards hold breath as Larry Fitzgerald gets MRI

Last December, Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald seemed to fall victim to the Madden curse. In a game against the 49ers, safety Dashon Goldson landed on Fitzgerald’s shin, flattening his lower leg against his upper leg.

The limp quickly went away, and the MRI was negative.

Last night, Fitzgerald was spotted icing his knee. Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports that Fitzgerald is undergoing an MRI. The team hopes it’s only a slight sprain.

If it’s anything more than that, the Cardinals could enter the 2010 season without their three key players on offense over the past two years -- Fitzgerald, Kurt Warner, and Anquan Boldin.

Cardinals fans, please try to relax. (And good luck with that.) We’ll keep you posted as soon as we hear something.
