San Francisco 49ers cornerback Carlos Rogers isn’t close to thinking he won’t be able to play against the Green Bay Packers this weekend in the Wild Card round of the NFC playoffs.
Rogers had an MRI on his right hamstring after leaving Sunday’s regular season finale against the Arizona Cardinals.
According to Janie McCauley of the Associated Press, Rogers wouldn’t speak Tuesday to the results of the MRI but he wasn’t close to considering himself out for Sunday’s game at Lambeau Field.
“Oh, no,” Rogers said to whether he’d rule himself out, “hell no.”
“We’ll see, we don’t know. It’s all right. It ain’t bad. We’re taking it day by day.”
Rogers has started all 48 at cornerback for the 49ers over the past three seasons. This year he’s racked up 47 tackles with two interceptions and eight passes defensed.
Due to the uncertainty of Rogers’ availability, the 49ers re-signed Perrish Cox to add depth at the position on Monday. Tarell Brown would likely get the bump into the starting lineup for San Francisco if Rogers in unable to play with Cox and Eric Wright being available in sub-packages for the 49ers.
