The Chargers took a look at wide receiver Austin Pettis recently, and they apparently liked what they saw.
They announced they signed the former Rams third-rounder Friday.
Pettis caught 107 passes for 1,034 yards and nine touchdowns in 47 games with the Rams, but was rarely more than a part-time player.
The Rams cut Pettis in October, after he was late for a team meeting, but the Chargers were short at the position all year, so taking an offseason look makes sense.
